Once again it is alarming that the [average] age of addiction has markedly fallen. The Minister of Sport and Youth in Iran, Mahmoud Golzari, has released worrying and disturbing statistics stating that out of the 23 million young people in the country three million of them are addicted to and abusing narcotics. He added that after the issue of drug abuse and addiction, robbery and violence are the most common crimes which are increasing significantly among some of the youth population.
Golzari also indicated that currently there are around 11 million single males and females aged under 30 in the country. He also confirmed that the statistic for the average rate of divorce in the country is 21 percent and in some other areas of the capital Tehran it reaches 50 percent
