Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri
[Following US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s announcing as to holding an Iran-focused summit in Poland in February, Iran’s First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri says holding this summit shows that the US sanctions have not worked. Iranian people are suffering acutely under these sanctions.]
Eshaq Jahangir: Americans have become so frustrated and they don’t know what to do with Iran. They have launched a full-fledged economic war against our nation. It has been 7 or 8 months that they have imposed whatever sanctions they could against Iran. They have hamstrung all countries; they have put companies under sanctions and have bribed them not to work with Iran. And now they have realized that apparently, this is not working, and they should hold a summit in a European country, on the pretext of the Middle East, but focused on Iran. These things are not necessary. You had talks with Iranian nation and reached logical solutions. Why do you put yourselves, Iranian people and others in so much trouble? Just rectify your mistakes, and everything will be right.
