Brigadier-General Hossein Salami, deputy commander of IRGC
[Brigadier-General Hossein Salami, deputy commander of IRGC, talks about how the US presence in the region has worked to the advantage of Islamic Republic.]
Brigadier-General Salami: They footed the bill, and we reaped the benefits. This happened in Iraq and in other places. In reality, Americans made the expansion of the Islamic Republic’s influence possible. If Americans hadn’t interfered, the speed of expansion and influence of the Islamic Republic in the Islamic world wouldn’t have been that much. It was because of them that jihadi ideas and spirits grew in the Islamic world. It was because of them that Muslim youths wore the jihadi headbands, got armed and took to streets. Ansar Allah in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Syrian popular army in Syria, popular forces in Iraq. All these are the outcomes of the US aggressive policies in the Islamic world.
