Ahmadinejad to Rouhani: Resign!

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Today I want to clearly talk to people about the current government. The current government – i.e. 11th and 12th – was formed based on a series of incorrect, preplanned suppositions. Mr. Rouhani himself said [during his presidential campaign], ‘warehouses are empty, the treasury is empty, and the government has debts.’ All three of these were not true. They have imposed a 5-year recession on the country until today. Concessions have been made, but people have gained nothing. We have fallen behind for 5 years. You had negotiated once before. The question is: who is responsible for this situation? At that time, I remained silent out of respect for people’s votes, and I thought the country is more important than me. The economy is on the verge of destruction. Public trust for the establishment has almost reached zero. They look people in the eye and tell them something that is not true. Let me say it explicitly. People are unhappy. Mr. Rouhani, people don’t want you. How else should they say it? Continuation of your presence is to disadvantage of the country and to disadvantage of yourself. Mr. Rouhani, you and all your supporters – and, I think, both factions in the country and heads of both branches – play a role in this situation. You must gain people’s satisfaction. Perhaps the best way is for you to no longer continue.
