Iran files ICJ complaint over re-imposition of US sanctions

This Iranian state TV news bulletin from July 17 reports the foreign minister’s announcement, issued via Twitter, that Iran has filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice (ICJ/CIJ) at the Hague in response to the re-imposition of US sanctions.

The newsreader says, “Iran has launched a complaint about the United States at the International Court of Justice. Foreign Minister Javad Zarif announced [in a tweet], Today Iran filed a complaint @CIJ_ICJ to hold the US accountable for its unlawful re-imposition of unilateral sanctions. Iran is committed to the rule of law in the face of US contempt for diplomacy & legal obligations. It’s imperative to counter its habit of violating int’l law.”
