Following U.S. President Trump pulling out of the nuclear deal [JCPOA], Iran is trying to save the deal with help of European countries. In this regard, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani went to Switzerland and Austria to meet and talk with European officials in this regard: “TV anchor: Iranian president left for Zurich an hour ago on an official invitation by Austrian and Swiss presidents. Before leaving, Mr. Rouhani said that today Europe announces disagreement with unilateralism in order to cooperate with Iran and other influential countries in regional and international issues. The president pointed out to records of Iran in cooperation with these two European countries, saying that one of the goals of this trip is using all capacities in bilateral relations.”

Iranian president, before his trip to Europe, explains the intentions of his trip and what he is trying to achieve: “Hassan Rouhani: Today when Americans have acted against the international laws and their multilateral obligations and pulled out of the JCPOA, relations and talks with Europe have their own special significance. Five countries – Russia, China, and three European countries and European Union (EU) – are trying to make JCPOA survive without the U.S. They all believe that survival of JCPOA is to the advantage of the region and the world. And they all unanimously condemn the U.S. for pulling out of the Resolution 2231 that requires all country to cooperate. Therefore, it is an opportunity to negotiate with regard to JCPOA’s future and agreements with EU during this trip. Europeans are going to offer their proposed package in upcoming days. We will talk about that as well.”
