Rouhani: Iran will remain in JCPOA if other P5+1 members guarantee its interests

Iran’s President, Hassan Rouhani

Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that despite US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal, if the other four members of the P5+1 group (China, France, Russia and the United Kingdom) which are signatories to the deal decide to maintain it and to guarantee Iran’s interests, the regime will remain in the deal “in spite of America’s will and the Zionist regime” [Israel].

Speaking during a meeting with Sri Lanka’s president, Maithripala Sirisena, in Tehran, Rouhani said, “If the five other countries that accompanied us in the nuclear deal comply with their obligations and assure the Iranian side that the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran will be achieved by continuing the nuclear deal, then this nuclear deal will remain in spite of America’s will and the Zionist regime.”
