Aide to the speaker of Parliament Hossein Amir-Abdollahian
[In this footage, Aide to the speaker of Parliament Hossein Amir-Abdollahian talks about ISIS and Al-Nusrah Front trusting Iranian military consultants and Hezbollah forces in the Syrian war.]
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian: I remember very well. There was a time in Syrian developments when the Syrian Army, our military consultants, and Hezbollah’s forces entered the scene to free people – women and children – who were taken as hostages by armed forces. When terrorists and Takfiri terrorists – from ISIS to Al-Nusra Front – were completely under the siege, they used to send a message that, “we are ready to hand over our heavy weapons and get out of this region. Just don’t kill us.”
At the time of exchange – I just want to talk about trust – ISIS and Al-Nusra Front men, who work with Israelis and are paid by them, were asking for guarantee at the time of their exit. They used to say, “What guarantee is there that Syrian forces would not shoot us from behind and kill us?
When you take the people and the exchange is complete, what guarantee is there?” When this process was going to take place for the first time, we asked the United Nations what guarantee they wanted. They said, “if Hezbollah or Iranian military consultants – one of the two – guarantees that the Syrians would not target us from behind, we would do the exchange”. You see, they beheaded the forces of Hezbollah and our defenders of the shrine in Syria. That is what they did to us. Yet they trusted that they are men and Muslims, and one can count on their words.
