In a speech delivered during a ceremony held in Tehran to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of senior Hezbollah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh, Ali Akbar Velayati a prominent advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei vowed that the state of Israel, which he referred to as “the Zionist regime”, would be “uprooted” in a period faster than the 179-year period of the Medieval Crusader Wars between the 11th and 13th centuries, promising a “victory” for Iran over Israel.
Reporting the speech on Iranian state TV, the newscaster says, “At the ceremony [marking the tenth anniversary of Mughniyeh’s death] held in Tehran, the international affairs advisor to the Supreme Leader [Velayati] also referred to the records of historical event, emphasizing the perseverance of the Muslims [in Palestine] and promising a victory.”
The footage then shows part of the speech by Ali Akbar Velayati, in which he says, “The Crusader War was a war on the same issue of Jerusalem and the territories of Palestine. It took 179 years of Crusader War, with eight periods of war, and eventually, it was ended with the victory of Muslims there. Inshallah [God willing] this disgraceful stain by the name of Israel, and the Zionist regime will be uprooted sooner than this, but at the same time I would like to say that Muslims are so patient.”
The newscaster ends the report by stating, “Imad Mughniyeh was assassinated in 2008 in Damascus, Syria, being martyred during a series of terrorist operations by agents of the intelligence service for the Zionist regime.”
