[In this footage, IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari is saying not destroying ISIS forces from the very beginning had positive consequences for IRGC and the resistance front. Countless innocent people have been killed by ISIS forces so for.]
Mohammad Ali Jafari: We might say in the beginning that when a threat is being shaped, it must be confronted from the very beginning. That is not right at all. This expectation is not right at all. For example, take the formation of ISIS. We might say that when ISIS was being shaped, it had to be destroyed in its early stages. This is not true at all. It was not possible, and it wasn’t clear if it were good. Because this very formation of ISIS and all incidents that took place in the region during past 4 or 5 years, had, as a matter of fact, consequences: the war with ISIS [resulted in] preparation of resistance front and organizing people of the region in Syria and Iraq. And in a war with ISIS, the forces that came from other countries expanded the resistance front.
