[IRIB report about construction and development of Bushehr power plant.]
Reporter: Excavation for construction of Bushehr nuclear power plant started with the presence of Ali Akbar Salehi, Iran’s vice president and head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Alexi Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, and members of Parliament’s Energy Commission. In this ceremony, Salehi, Iran’s vice president and head of Atomic Energy Organization, said:
–To me, this project is really the symbol of strategic cooperation between Iran and Russia. I don’t think that there is any nuclear site which is as famous as Bushehr’s site in the world.
Reporter: Alexi Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, said Iran-Russia cooperation, especially in the process of constructing Bushehr nuclear power plant, is moving forward and promising.
–For us, agreement and implementation of each contract are lawful. And we consider carrying it out as our duty and will be proud of being successful in it. We are ready to get to 1200-megawatt units in next contracts. These units are tested and used in Russia. And we are ready for that too.
Reporter: With using these two units, 1114 megawatts will be added to power production in the country.
Reporter: According to scheduled plans, Unit 2 of Bushehr power plant will be operational in 7 years, and Unit 3 in 9 years.
