Kurdistan independence referendum, will it survive?

This Iranian state TV news bulletin reports that a meeting between Masoud Barzani, the President of Kurdistan, and his Iraqi counterpart, President Fouad Masoum, to discuss the current crisis in northern Iraq failed to persuade Barzani to cancel the results of the recent Kurdish independence referendum.

The news anchor says: “Masoud Barzani has again refused to cancel the referendum result. Masoud Barzani, the President of Kurdistan region, this morning met with Hero Ibrahim, the wife of Jalal Talabani, and Iraqi President Fouad Massoum in an effort to find a solution to the crisis that has been created in northern Iraq. Reports from the meeting suggest that the meeting was not very successful, with Barzani rejecting the demands of the Iraqi government to cancel the referendum for the secession of this region.  At the same time, the Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized the government’s decision to overturn the results of the referendum on Kurdistan, and to deploy central police force personnel to all parts of the country.
