Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif reacted with contempt to a video posted by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in response to Zarif’s recent tweet suggesting that all Iranians support the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), asserting that the Israeli PM has no right to say anything.
In a short address posted on his Facebook account last Tuesday (October 17, 2017), Netanyahu suggested that Zarif should delete his Twitter account following Zarif’s statement about the IRGC.
In this report from Iranian state TV, a news anchor shows a short clip in which a journalist approaches Zarif while he’s on his way to a meeting to ask for his reaction to Netanyahu’s statement. The anchor says: “’He [Netanyahu] has no damn right to say it’ – this was the Foreign Minister’s short but far-ranging response to Netanyahu’s request to shut his Twitter account.”
The short clip then shows the reporter, amongst a throng of journalists surrounding Zarif, saying to the Iranian FM: “Zarif, Netanyahu’s said that you should close your Twitter account.”
Zarif replies, “He doesn’t have the damn right to say it,” after which he and the crowd of reporters burst into laughter.
