[A report about what Iranian ordinary citizens think about Iran’s presence in Syria and Iraq.]

–I don’t agree with our youths going to Iraq and Syria.

–When we go to Syria, certainly their enmity with us increases because we are taking side with their enemy.

Reporter: What you say is like a football match. It is like saying that when we play and score, then the opponent team becomes more outrageous and comes to score against us.

–Certainly.

Reporter: And we shouldn’t play football at all?

–Should we be one of the two teams? Can’t we be just the spectators?

Reporter: No. We should be team Iran.

–We can be spectators. They are fighting with each other. There are no reasons for us to take part in the war.

Reporter: So, in your opinion, if we are spectators, ISIS will have nothing to do with us?

–I think that now fighting is not acceptable in the world.

Reporter: What should we have done?

–Soft war. In my opinion, soft war will be more fruitful.

Reporter: Soft war, how? How could we have a soft war against ISIS?

–I think war is not the solution.

Reporter: Why do you lock the door?

–So that thieves cannot come in.

Reporter: What have you done for thieves to come to your home?

–What have I done for thieves to come to our home? Thieves go everywhere.

Reporter: Thieves go everywhere.

–They go to shops, to houses, to cars.

Reporter: What have you done for thieves to come to your home?

–I have done nothing wrong. I lock the door for security.

Reporter: Well, if we have nothing to do with ISIS, they still come to us.

–Perhaps.

Reporter: Perhaps.

Reporter: Do you think we should let go of ISIS, or we should take care of them? Which one?

–We should take care of our country. Not Syria.

Reporter: In your opinion, if people like Hojaji had not get martyred in Syria and Iraq, could we have taken care of our country and have security?

–Perhaps.
