Khamenei appoints new army commander, Armed Forces deputy’s head

It was announced on Monday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has appointed a new commander for the Iranian Army, as well as appointing a Deputy Commander for the Iranian Armed Forces’ Chief of Staff.

In this news bulletin announcing the news, the news anchor states, “In a decree, Ayatollah Khamenei has appointed Major-General Ataolllah Salehi as the new Second-in-Command to the Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, at the proposal of the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces himself [Major-General Mohammad Baqeri].  Also, in another decree, the Supreme Leader of all the Armed Forces [Khamenei] has promoted Abdolrahim Mousavi from the rank of Brigadier-General to be the new commander of Iran’s Army.”
