The deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a live interview broadcast on Iranian state TV that the US would never be able to change the behavior of the Iranian regime.
Brigadier-General Hossein Salami, the IRGC second-in-command, told the interviewer on Iran’s Channel One that the US government is making mistaken assumptions about the regime.
The TV presenter began by saying to Brig. Gen. Salami, “We have a short time, only six or seven minutes [for the interview], and so I’d like to ask you at least two questions.”
The IRGC deputy chief then interrupted the reporter, saying, “I am stating once again that, as with the predecessors of Tillerson and Trump, this wish to change the behavior of our regime, not to mention changing the basic structure of the regime, they took it to their grave. You see, the behavior of the Iranian nation, since the beginning of the revolution till today, in the face of tough enemies and all types of threats, has been unchanging, taking an active stance of endurance and perseverance, strength and determination. So these Americans are assuming wrongly [making a mistake]; they should not talk about the Iranian regime – the Iranian regime, even the words of the regime, is bigger than their mouths.”
