Rouhani dashes Tillerson’s hopes for dismantling Iran’s ballistic missile tests

The first part of this clip shows US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson speaking during the recent joint press conference with his Saudi counterpart, Adel Bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, about Iran’s regional policies.  Tillerson says:  “What we hope what I would hope is that Rouhani now has a new term and he uses the term to begin a process of dismantling, and we also hope he puts an end to the ballistic missile testing.”

The second part of the clip shows the dismissive reaction to this from the aforementioned recently re-elected Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, who smirks as he delivers a speech to a number of senior Iranian regime officials, saying, “This was not in our agreement to follow their [the USA’s] dreams.  They are merely dreaming and [indulging in] wishful thinking.  The Iranian people, to defend themselves, to provide for their military weapons, for their needs, will not ask nor seek permission from somebody to do so.  The nation [Iran] has always decided to be powerful and capable. If Iran does not have weapons, if our missiles haven’t been manufactured, then there are people who will make errors in calculation, and they [USA] have already made such miscalculations and dragged the region into war and chaos; therefore our missiles are made for peace [to deter attack], they are not for aggression, our missiles are made for defence, so the US officials know that Whenever we technically need to test missiles, we will test. We will not wait for their permission”.

“We have agreed on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA – the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 nations]; we reached agreement on Resolution 2231 in order for us to empower our defense capability, This defense power has been mentioned explicitly, and has been indicated in different forms in the Resolution 2231 I urge this man [Tillerson] to read the Resolution 2231”.
