[Ayatollah Muhammad Ali Movahedi-Kermani, Tehran’s temporary Friday Prayer Leader, first attacks the president and then asks for broadcasting the presidential debates. After that, he talks about characteristics of a good president.]

MOVAHEDI-KERMANI slams the president: Some see the unruliness of Mr. President and say, “he doesn’t know what he is doing, and anyway we should focus on this.” I don’t know what they are talking about. Is it not true that if America sees a country is weak, it will try to crush it and destroy it?

MOVAHEDI-KERMANI calls for standing to America: Therefore, with all our powers, we must prove to the world, to America, and make America understand that there is a nation in this country, there are military forces in this country, and there is a regime in this country which is powerfully enduring and will respond to the malevolent enemy in a way that they will regret it forever.

MOVAHEDI-KERMANI talks about significance of live debates for people: In my opinion, debates must be broadcast live. Isn’t it true that you say people must be insightful and wise? One of the best ways for becoming insightful is this: they should see and listen to debates carefully. If one candidate made an objection to the other, they should see if he can respond correctly to him or not.

He outlines some characteristics of a good president: How efficient is he? Is he truly wise? Is he a good manager? Being wise and being a good manager are conditions of being a leader. It is very important. He must be a manager to run the country as best as possible. He must run the country in a way that the needy and the poor can get their rights. No rights must be violated. Nowhere in the country should an official do injustice. He must be a manager. It is a serious issue. He must be a manager. He must be wise. He must know the best way for achieving the goals. In short, one of the best ways for getting insight is having live debates.
