A senior Iranian regime cleric and presidential candidate in the upcoming election set to place on May 19, has asserted that the regime must build a regional “Islamic nation” in order to confront its enemies and challenge “global arrogance”.
In this clip from an election campaign speech delivered on Tuesday May 9, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisos-Sadat, commonly known as Ebrahim Raisi, who serves as the custodian and chairman of Astan Quds Razavi [a regime-backed autonomous charitable foundation, in Mashhad], tells voters: “We have a strategic objective, and the enemy also has a strategic objective; Saudi Arabia today as the House of Saud is operating on behalf of the global American arrogance in Yemen. In order for us to confront it, we have our own strategic objective. The beloved people of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen and all the world, all of those are forming an Islamic nation, so this is our strategic extension. This war and hostile conflict with the arrogant power [the USA] will continue for as long as this power stands in the face of our religion, as Imam Khomeini put it.”
