Iran only intervenes to “fight Israeli hostility”, claims Khamenei

In this footage, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, claims, implausibly, that the Iranian regime only intervenes in other nations to fight Israeli hostility, citing the 2006 war in Lebanon, in which over 1,000 people died, as an example, and praising it as a “victory”.

Speaking to regime supporters at the Imam Khomeini Musalla in Tehran on April 13 this year, the head of the Islamic Republic said: “We will say it explicitly; we intervene in a place only in cases of hostile intervention by Israel. The outcome of our intervention was the victory in the 33-day war in Lebanon.  After this, everywhere, every nation, every group fighting against the Zionist regime and confronting it, then we will stand behind them assisting them and they need have no fear of anyone.”
