Iranians have burnt US and Israeli flags, mocking Donald Trump at rallies commemorating the 1979 revolution

Demonstrators at the rallies in Tehran last Friday (February 10) chanted slogans against the US and Israel, with the protests coming at a time when the new US President Donald Trump is already engaged in a war of words with Iran’s leadership,  as well as putting Tehran “on notice” over a recent ballistic missile test. Marchers attending the rallies carried “Death to America” banners and effigies of Trump.

“State TV showed footage of people stepping on Trump’s picture in a central Tehran street,” said a state news agency, which also reported that citizens threw balls and darts at pictures of Trump and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Some demonstrators also burned an American flag, with the semi-official ILNA news agency reporting that demonstrators also burned an Israeli flag.
